What is “Court’s Order” ?

Courtnie is native of Richmond, VA, a graduate of the College of William & Mary and the William Mitchell College of Law, and “Auntie Coco” to the best niece in the world.

She works in many different capacities but her passion, commitment, and efforts are all rooted in serving communities pushed to the margins of society.

Law & Advocacy

Courtnie spent over a decade representing children, families, low-income civilians, and refugees in various areas of law. She advocated for her clients in areas of family law, criminal law, immigration law, humanitarian rights, and international law. She worked to promote corporate social responsibility in oil, gas, energy, and supply chain industries in West Africa. She continued to advocate for the rights of children & families as an attorney at Z Family Law, LLC. More recently, Courtnie enhances the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority’s commitment to commitment to ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible practices as its Social Impact Specialist.

Media & Story-Telling

Courtnie is passionate about bringing visibility to people and organizations who make “good trouble.” She honed her skills for story telling by working as a communications associate for a notable communications and media agency in Minnesota. She continued by working as a consultant and communications director for non-profits who needed assistance in garnering a solid media presence. Her work resulted in clients building a strong donor & volunteer base, increasing their social media engagement, and the facilitation of highly attended conferences/events. She continues her work in media relations by creating campaigns and representing groups and people who are committed to social impact and corporate social responsibility.

Education & Outreach

Courtnie loves connecting and inspiring the next generation of leaders. As a Professor at the illustrious University of District of Columbia, Courtnie teaches students in areas of social impact, social justice, law, and criminal justice. She also works with local non-profits to educate pro bono attorneys, volunteers, and even community partners about the law. Courtnie has facilitated countless “Know Your Rights” community sessions in order to empower people with the information they need to be protected. She continues to empower small business owners and entrepreneurs on areas of business law here on her site and via her Youtube Channel.
